The Need, Purpose, and Goal of the Genesis Museum are:
• To establish, maintain operate and care for a facility as a museum and to preserve therein its extensive collection of exhibits,
art and historical objects which demonstrate the universality, continuity and strength of black culture.
• To service as an accessible educational resource center for youth and adults who desire to learn about the culture of Black Africans’ in the Diaspora.
• To develop and administer education programs geared toward elementary and secondary school students and the general community,
in cooperation with educational and community cultural arts institutions and organizations.
• To develop and maintain exhibitions and to circulate them as traveling exhibitions to museums, cultural and arts centers
community educational institutions.
• To document the variety of contributions, life styles and cultures, of persons of African descent, to show the interdependence that exists
throughout the world among all peoples, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas among artists, scholars, educators, and the general public.
• To provide exhibitions and performances designed to present and celebrate the artistic contributions of persons of
African descent throughout the world.
• To serve as a repository of information on Black African culture in the Diaspora.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM
The Genesis Museum of International Black Culture, charted under the Education Department of the State of New York, and incorporated by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York, and granted tax exempt 501(c)(3) status by the DOT IRS, was established for the purpose of collecting, documenting, celebrating, and exhibiting the history, culture, arts and sciences of International Black Peoples.
The concept and purpose of The Genesis Museum of International Black Culture is dedicated to serve as a vehicle or institution which could teach, honor and restore the knowledge, understanding and belief in the successful accomplishments of Black people, their history, art and culture through exhibitions, symposiums, lectures, and celebrations with the goal of restoring in Black people a true sense of pride, knowledge, respect for our history and heritage, and reconnection to our roots.

The Genesis Museum functions as “an international Museum to exhibit, research, document, disseminate, and celebrate the influence of International Black peoples, their cultures and heritage upon the ancient societies as well as upon contemporary civilizations.” Genesis Museum’s mission is to expose to as wide an audience as possible to the international Black experience.
Genesis Museum’s goal is to demonstrate not only the universality, continuity, and strength of International Black cultures, but also to demonstrate the interdependence of all cultures through exhibitions that create a total educational and aesthetic environment that reveals and generates respect for International Black cultures, the artist, the scholar and the audience. To document the variety of contributions, life styles and cultures, of persons of African descent, to show this interdependence of human life and similarities as well as the differences that exists throughout the world and among all peoples; to provide a forum for dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
